The university will be closed beginning at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 23, 2021 and will re-open on Monday, Jan. 3, 2022.
The Department of Public Safety will remain open 24/7 and can be reached at 585-475-3333 or via text at 585-205-8333. For emergencies, please call 911.

Beginning Dec. 16, the Gordon Field House & Activities Center and the Hale-Andrews Student Life Center will be open 8 a.m.-8 p.m. on weekdays and 1-5 p.m. Saturday/Sunday. The Student Life Center and Field House will close at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 23, 2021 and will re-open at 8 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 3, 2022.

Wallace on Ice, Wallace Library’s temporary location in Ritter Ice Arena, will maintain normal hours through Wednesday, Dec.15. After finals end, the library will be open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. throughout Winter Break, except for the campus-wide holiday closure beginning 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 23 through Sunday, Jan. 2. Wallace on Ice will re-open on Monday, Jan. 3. For more information, visit the RIT Libraries website.

During the Winter Break, the FoodShare will be open from Noon-5 p.m. the following days:

The FoodShare will resume normal business hours on Monday, Jan. 10.

Bern’s Closet: RIT community members can visit Bern's Closet on Fridays between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., by appointment. Schedule your appointment below:

Bern’s Closet will resume normal business hours on Monday, Jan. 10. No appointment needed.

Housing and Residence Life
Residence halls, Global Village, University Commons, Riverknoll, Perkins Green, Greek Circle and the RIT Inn will remain open over the break.
A professional staff member from the Residence Life team will be on call throughout the break and can be accessed by calling Public Safety.
Residence Life Service Desk
The Residence Life Service Desk will maintain normal business hours through Saturday, Dec. 18, 2021 at 11 p.m.
The Service Desk will close on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2021 and will resume normal business hours on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022.
Margaret's House will be closed beginning at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 23, 2021 and will re-open at 8 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 3, 2022.
The RIT Service Center will close at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 23 and reopen on Monday, Jan.3 at 7:30 a.m. Please contact RIT Public Safety at 585-475-3333 if you have urgent matters related to Dining or Housing.
Counseling and Psychological Services will be closed beginning at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 23, 2021 and will re-open for normal business hours on Monday, Jan. 3, 2022. For urgent matters that cannot wait for business hours, call 1-855-436-1245 to speak with a mental health provider or call Public Safety at 585-475-3333.
The Student Health Center will be closed beginning at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 23, 2021 and will re-open for normal business hours on Monday, Jan. 3, 2022. If you are ill and need medical advice while the Student Health Center is closed, please contact our after-hours nurse advice service at 585-475-2255 and select the nurse advice option. If there is a medical emergency, call Public Safety at 585-475-3333 or text 585-205-8333.
The Bates Study Center will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 13 and will close for break on Tuesday, Dec. 14.
The Sol Study Center will close for break on Friday, Dec. 10.
RIT Transportation Services will be running reduced shuttle schedules during Winter Break. Please visit the Shuttle Schedules or TransLoc Rider app for updates.
Information for Faculty and Staff
The university will officially close at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 23, 2021 and will re-open on Monday, Jan. 3, 2022.
Employees normally scheduled to work during this time will receive three hours of “approved with pay” time. Please refer to the Holiday Early Release FAQs or contact your HR Manager if you have any additional questions.
Student employees who work during the Winter Break must adhere to the 20 hour per week limit, and must report their time accurately. Questions regarding Early Release Pay or payment for hours worked by student employees during the break can be directed to the Student Employment Office at 585-475-2631.
Winter Break Bus
Student Government has sponsored a Winter Break Bus that will run a continuous loop for one day at the start of the Winter Break and one day at the end of Winter Break. The bus provides easy transportation to and from the Greater Rochester International Airport, Amtrak station, and Greyhound station.
Transportation will be available for departures on Thursday, Dec. 16, 2021 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and for returns on Sunday, Jan. 9, 2022 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
- Departures: The bus loop will begin at F-lot with the first drop off at the Greater Rochester International Airport, followed by the Amtrak station, with the final stop at the Greyhound station.
- Returns: The first pick up will be at the Amtrak station, followed by the Greyhound station and the Greater Rochester International Airport, before returning to F-lot.
